Until December 31st, 2023, London's 180 Studios is home to Gucci Cosmos - a truly immersive exhibition, exploring everything from Gucci's rich heritage, to their era-defining creativity.
Following the success of of its Shanghai debut, the Gucci Cosmos exhibition has arrived to London. Opening on October 11th, the exhibition showcases icons from its 102 year long history. Split up into many rooms, Gucci Cosmos combines fashion, history and creativity, all wrapped up in an immersive space.
The contemporary exhibition will then move on to be displayed in Paris, France, and later in Kyoto, Japan. Each space featuring a link and dedicated narratives, relating to the culture of its host city and country.
The UK, specifically London itself, played a huge role in the creation of Gucci as a brand. Dating back to the late 1890s when Guccio Gucci worked at The Savoy Hotel as a luggage porter, he was inspired to create his luggage atelier. Paying homage to this, the exhibition begins with you stepping into a scaled size of The Savoy's famous red lift. But I won't spill any more secrets...
Italian curator, Maria Luisa Frisa, sourced exclusive and rare items from the Gucci archives to display for the exhibition. The never seen before pieces aim to take back the viewer through of the Italian fashion house, showing its evolution throughout the last century. The archives include pieces from many creative directors, including Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele and Sabato De Sarno.
The immersive and interactive exhibition shares the heritage of Gucci in a different light. With a room for everyone to get lost in, it's a well worthy exhibit to attend.
